WHAT DOES JESUS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE WORK A CHRISTIAN IS TO DO?
![]()
In Matthew 14:1-23 Jesus speaks about the parable of the sower. Focus on the seed that fell on good ground; that would be you and me. We come to church every Sunday to hear the word and use what we learn to produce what the
scripture calls fruit.
Some 100 fold, some 60, some 30. It is evident that there are some Christians that produce more fruit than others, yet all good seed produces fruit. There are many ways of producing fruit beginning with the fruits of the spirit found in Galatians
5:22-25. We are also to produce or bear fruit by winning souls. The
scripture says in I Corinthians 3:6-9,
"I planted, Apollos watered, but
God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he
who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who
waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own
labor. For we are God's fellow workers, you are God's field, you are God's
building."
You may have the ability to teach (planting) God's word and someone else may
have the ability to take what you have taught and water it. As a TEAM with
God, His word will work in that persons life, and you will receive a reward
and the church will be blessed. Are you using what you have learned through your own studies and through the hearing of the word to produce fruit in your life? If not, you can ask God to help you realize what abilities you may possess that produce fruit. And through the help of the Holy Spirit, God will bless you and you can start producing fruit. Remember that you are the good seed and the good seed produces fruit.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, "The
harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray to
the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." Matthew 9 : 37 & 38.
Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, 'There are still four months and then comes the harvest?' Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for the harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: 'One sows and another reaps.' I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors." John 4 : 34 - 38
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Matthew 28 : 19 & 20.
